Been a busy week, finally got to sit down and finish this. I made some color changes which I think give it a nicer flow and figured out what to do with the hair, I really like how that came out. Time to go watch the premiere of the new True Blood Season. Shame there's no more Lizzy Caplan. :(

Pretty much just the hair left. Trying to decide how I'm going to tackle it, given the line art has so much solid black and the light source is pretty much directly hitting it. I'll probably color in some of it, balance it out. I also changed the shirt color to balance it out. Time to finish the Dexter season 1 finale and pass out.

A little more work tonight. I wound up working late and as a result, getting started late, then sporadically working while watching Dexter, which I am now officially hooked on. Anyway, the jeans aren't done, a little more color work to throw in along with some strategic texture placement, then I can do the boots, belt and hair and wrap this piece up.

Progressing along nicely me thinks. I'd have been finished today, but some stuff came up and I had a problem re-focusing when I finally got back to it. Plus I started watching Dexter Season 1 while I was coloring. Man that show is awesome, people told me, but I just never got around to watching it.

A little more done before I go out to run some errands. This new process I'm trying out to color stuff is working great so far IMO and helping me speed up a great deal.

So I'm done with Spidey/Black Cat and moving onto Spidey/MJ. I need to start limiting my time on pieces and just trying to accomplish as much as I can in that time frame. If I don't, I tweak and tweak and tweak until I've hit many more hours than really necessary on a piece. The The Spidey/MJ piece has a photomanipulated background just like the other one, although I got it to look more like line art than it should. If I remove the colors from it, I could actually color it, it's that crisp. I don't want to spend THAT much time on this piece though, so this will do.

I'm 99% sure that I'm 100% certain I'm satisfied with the leather now. Lan was right, it was WAY too bright. I scaled it back and removed a lot of the color, save for the sharp highlights, and now it's a lot closer to what leather looks like. Felicia is pretty much done at this point, and Spidey shouldn't take me nearly as long tomorrow, because he's so much simpler. If everything goes according to plan (which it never does) I'll be finished this tomorrow, then I can do the Spidey & MJ companion piece.

I got carried away...

making a new background for my desktop. Lines by J. Scott Campbell (who, in my opinion, draws the best Mary Jane Watson).
