STREET FIGHTER

This is my submission piece for the Alvin Lee Street Fighter Tribute Digital Coloring Contest. I came up with the idea of having the piece on weathered parchment about halfway through coloring this. I really felt like Chun-Li and Ken were the main focal points of this piece, so I wanted them to stand out more. Kind of like they were coming to life off of a dirty old drawing on a scroll. I originally had an actual scroll under it, but ditched that because it looked weird, and just went with a weathered piece of paper. I don't know that I actually achieved the feel of them coming off of the page, but I still think it looks cool. :D

There are only 2 versions here, with and without the lines, because I pretty much did color holds over every single line, except Chun-Li's. So there's not a big difference with just the color holds on vs. all the lines on.

So here's a bunch of stuff I did recently, but with a twist! It's a peek behind all the line art, so you can see what I actually did. All the finished pieces are on my deviantART page, and there are two versions for you to check out here. The first is my colors, with all the lines completely removed. The second is my colors, with the parts of the lines that I colored over to help the flow of the final piece (this process is called color holds). First up is a commission I recently finished for Justin:

No Lines:
Color Holds added:

Next up we have a piece by Al Rio that I colored, first with No Lines:
And now with the Color Holds added:
Next up is the result of a brutal battle between Batgirl and Catwoman, first with No Lines:
and next with the Color Holds added:
And Last we have a quick sketch that I colored as a warm up, of Poison Ivy in her outfit from the new Batman: Arkham Asylum game. There were no color holds on this piece, so here's the version with no lines. You can see how rough it is, especially compared to the others.
